More in-depth about Obagi Professional-C Serum: Benefits, Results and Drawbacks.

First it’s worth noting that Obagi Vitamin C serum comes in different strengths, which makes it helpful for those who haven’t used vitamin C in the past and want to ease into it. Or simply have sensitive skin. Vitamin C can cause some irritation to the skin as it contains ferulic acid, so it’s recommended for beginners to start with a lower potency and if no skin irritation develops you can try moving up in strength.

Vitamin C acts like a shield for your skin against environmental damage from things in the air, like pollution and the sun, helping to keep it healthy and protected.

Key ingredients of Obagi Professional-C Serum.

  • L-Ascorbic Acid (Pure Vitamin C): Boosts collagen production, brightens skin, and protects against free radicals and environmental stressors for a youthful complexion.

More in-depth about SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Acid serum: Why is it so popular?

Just like Obagi, SkinCeuticals also have various strengths and different irritation levels. The great thing about SkinCeuticals is that it also contains vitamin E as the name suggests. Vitamin E is a powerhouse when it comes to skincare. It’s a natural antioxidant that helps protect the skin from environmental aggressors and free radicals, which can lead to premature aging and damage.

But here’s the magic: when combined with vitamin C in a serum, the two create a dynamic duo that amplifies their individual benefits. Vitamin E not only provides an extra layer of protection against oxidative stress, but it also helps stabilize and enhance the effectiveness of vitamin C. Together, they form a potent defense against UV damage and promote collagen production, resulting in firmer, more youthful-looking skin.

Key ingredients on SkinCeuticals  Vitamin C products:

  • L-Ascorbic Acid (Pure Vitamin C): Boosts collagen production, brightens skin, and protects against free radicals and environmental stressors for a youthful complexion.
  • Alpha Tocopherol (Vitamin E): Provides deep hydration, acts as a powerful antioxidant, and promotes soft, healthy skin.
  • Ferulic Acid: Enhances stability of other antioxidants, defends against UV damage, and supports a more resilient, radiant complexion.
SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Acid Serum

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum.

Strength: 15%

Ingredients: L-Ascorbic Acid (Pure vitamin C), Vitamin E, Ferulic Acid.

Skin concerns: Age spots, sun damage, uneven skin tone, dullness, wrinkles, fine lines.

My personal experience:

My skin concerns:

I have 2 stubborn sun spots on my cheek and temple, mainly from years of UV exposure over the years that I struggle to fade away. There are also some other signs of aging on like dull skin areas around my mouth and chin. Overall I had quite uneven skin tone and I wanted to improve my overall health of the skin.

To keep my experiment equal, I did not change any other products in my skincare routine throughout the 8 months of trials. I avoided using anything like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid which can sometimes ocntribute to skin brightening as I wanted to purely test the two products: Obagi vs Skinceuticals vitamin C. Since the products are definitely not on the cheap side of things, I needed to know which one is actually worth the $$$, and which one of them I should stick with.

Trying Obagi as part of my skin care routine:

I’m the type of person who believes in trying something for a while before making a judgment, so I gave Obagi Products a 4 months trial to see if it actually made a difference. After using Obagi just weeks of daily use I noticed that my dullness around the mouth noticeably brightened and some of the melasma spots around my temples and forehead also faded. My stubborn dark spots on the cheek however, were still noticeable and I still had to cover it up.

Trying SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Acid Serum:

I decided to switch to SkinCeuticals and give it the same time frame to draw my conclusions and be able to fairly compare the 2 skin care products. Although I didn’t see results as quickly as with Obagi, when I they finally came I noticed some positive effects. Not only my spots were fading, but my skin texture improved significantly giving my face a more youthful appearance. It is possible that it was due to the fact that SkinCeuticals contains the addition of vitamin E.

Vitamin E, with its antioxidant properties, helps protect the skin from free radical damage, promotes hydration, soothes inflammation, aids in healing, and supports collagen production for a healthier and more radiant complexion.

FAQ:

How long does it take for Obagi Professional C Serum to work?

You should start noticing improvements in the skin within 10 days. The skin may appear brighter, and less uneven and some spots including acne scars can start looking lighter.

How long does it take for SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Acid Serum to work?

Noticeable changes after using it for about 5 weeks, skin looked more youthful, and brighter and some dark age spots have become lighter.

Is SkinCeuticals or Obagi better?

Based on personal trials and feedback, as well as reviews on platforms like Amazon and other retailers, SkinCeuticals emerges as a preferred choice. The products consistently receive positive reviews for their effectiveness and visible results. In my experience and based on the shared experiences of others.

Is Obagi vitamin C worth it?

In comparison to other less expensive brands Obagi Vitamin C has more significant effect on my skin, but not as significant as SkinCeuticals Vitamin C Serum. So I can understand the reason for the higher cost behind the product and can justify it based on quality and results.

Why is SkinCeuticals vitamin C the best?

SkinCeuticals stands out for its commitment to quality ingredients and innovative formulations, making it a reliable and trusted option for achieving skincare goals. The addition of vitamin E and Ferulic acid makes it superior to many other brands on the market. Although I wish it was a little cheaper I am prepared to pay extra $$ for something that works well for my skin without causing irritation.

Why is SkinCeuticals so expensive?

The elevated cost of SkinCeuticals products is attributed to the use of potent, top-tier ingredients. The brand places a strong emphasis on meticulous research, development, testing, and formulation, incurring higher expenses. This dedication ensures the creation of highly effective skincare solutions, contributing to the premium pricing associated with SkinCeuticals.

To add, from my personal experience, I found skimping on quality and resorting to cheaper brands can sometimes cause more harm than good to the skin. Skincare products are not all made equally. Cheaper products can often either be ineffective or even cause further skin issues.
